Hi.
I have an old motherboard, the ASUS A7V266-E.
Just recently purchased an ASUS Radeon 9600 XT from newegg for it.
Installed it and noticed that my computer used to frequently lock up. Installed the ASUS smart doctor utility and it mentioned that the VDDQ for the AGP card was not enough!
Turns out my card needs a VDDQ of 3.3 V but my motherboard manual mentions that the AGP slot is keyed in to work with 1.5V cards only. So was browsing the net for motherboards and saw the ASUS A7N8X deluxe at newegg. The manual for that one also mentions that it is keyed in to work with 1.5 V cards only.
I do not understand if the slot is keyed in to work at 1.5 V, how did a 3.3 V AGP card fit in it? Also what do you suggest I do? Return the card and ask for a 9600XT 1.5 V card? I do not know if these exist? OR am I doing something wrong here?
If most motherboards I check out have a 1.5 V AGP slot how did a 3.3V card fit in it? More importantly if the 9600XT is a 3.3 V card what motherboard does it work with? The strange part is that both of these are ASUS products.
Sorry pretty confused here and not sure what to to. As of now I reinstalled my Geforce 3 Ti 200 and it seems to be working fine so far.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
