Circumventing security mechanisms and site blocking software is a taboo topic here. Make an appeal to the IT guys at the school and do things the right way.
*sigh* At least I'm being truthful I could just make up some dumb excuse must I really do that though? Is it that big of a deal?
Yes
Oh c'mon...someone help me out
Help is on the way.
I'm assuming your not talking about really helping me more as to getting someone to lock my thread?
Pretty much. But I will help you anyhow. Hopefully doG and the mods can forgive me for this.
To get around these silly restrictions that idiots (aka admins) put in place because they have nothing better to do than limit students to sites that may actually help them study, you can do a couple of things.
First, start a protest. Burn things, riot, all the fun stuff. If you prefer a more peaceful method, start pretending you are in the 60s. Free sex can't hurt anyone of legal age.
Second, if you do not feel like starting a protest or the protest failed, get your own internet connection. You can get dialup for reasonable prices, and as long as you go to a school that is not in BFE (you know, the areas of the country where you *run* if you hear dualing banjos) you should have a local access number.
Third, beer is always a bonus when an admin decides if your idea is worth implimenting.
Forth, failing the ability to spend money on anything but pot and beer, try appealing to the admins through logical methods. Write a letter to the Dean, admins, channel 6, that girl that sits across from you in Studies of Powerful Female Rulers of the 10th Century (yeah, the one that does not shave her armpits), and anyone else you can think of that might have some sway. Include in this letter:
1. Which rules should be changed
2. What a more reasonable solution would be
3. How this change will benefit the education of the students
4. How this change will lower infrastructure expendatures
5. How this change will benefit the admins (less work, easier stuff to deal with, more secure, etc)
Detailing the savings the school can make by your changes is very important in this letter. This will appeal to the dean, while the increase in security and reliability will obviously appease the admins. Any college that does not consider making these changes when you have gone through this much work to research the topic, is probably not worth going to. But, no matter how it turns out, you may be able to get some extra credit in some flunky liberal class.
Hope that helps.
