An 80+ year old friend of mine is looking for a new turntable for her kitchen, and has asked me to find her one. If she was looking for a good digital setup or component system, I could help, but good vinyl equipment is a bit beyond my area of expertise, so what she's looking for . . .

Table-top combo unit - No preamp, component cabinet system stuff. She wouldn't understand it.

Has to play records, cassettes, and CDs. (she's 80. What can I say?)

Enough sound for a 20' x 12' flat ceiling room

She has said price doesn't matter, but I expect she's looking in the $200 - $400 range. She was looking at this Crowsley unit. http://www.jcpenney.com/record-play...earchResults&searchTerm=crowsley&N=4294288361

Please help. Don't want to let this lady down.

Unfortunately for what she wants that Crosley unit is probably the best you're going to find. On the bright side, hopefully at her age she won't mind the sound quality (or lack thereof).

Thanks for the reply. That was my thought as well after doing a little more research. It seems people that are passionate about vinyl don't mind getting into the high end stuff. That just isn't a good match for her though. The Crowsley looks nice in her kitchen, and it does everything she wants it to do, so she's ordered that one. I'm sure the sound quality will fine for her. Lol, she wanted it fast so she could play christmas records for guests. I'm sure she'll be very happy with it.
