I have a PIII 500 running at 675 w/ an alpha heatsink, ca2 stepping retail with 128 megs Mosel 143 cas 2mem. under full load cpu never gets higher than 35c. when i bump the the fsb up to 138 i start having lock ups. i've removed all hardware except for my video card and still the same problem. I can run q2 and q3 for a few hours without anyproblems but locks up after minutes of 3dmark 2000 I don't believe it's the video card because i'm running on a soyo 7vca with 1/2 agd divider. i've also tried doing a -33 on the ram clock with same results. I can get into windows and play games for a bit all the up to 160 fsb. I tried upping the voltage with no luck. At whatever speed it never gets above 40c. Do you guys think i have a cooling issue or a dud cpu. I've tried two different PIII 500 in the same system with the same results. Please help!!!

You may want to back down to CAS 333 and try again. It sounds like those crashes may be from pushing your RAM too hard. The CPU should go 5x150 with no problems.

Might also be other componatents that are craping out to. Also just because the cpu is cold doesn't meen it can handle higher speeds.
