Help with a new comp build

ok last PSU showdown queue the western music should i dish out around $53 extra for the http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16817151025 or keep the cash and get the http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16817103462? i might overclook in the future after learning more. after SLI gets better through driver support and the gpu prices go down i will most likely get another 7800gtx for the SLI as of now though i wont. also i'll probably do the evga step up after the 512mb gtx comes out so thats probably going to need more PSU(if i buy through newegg i can still do the step up correct?). sorry for bothering everyone with my retardedness

Get an Opteron 165 and overclock it. It's a much better value than the X2 3800+ and you'll end up with a 2x1Mb @2600+ Mhz CPU.

Seriously, get the Opteron 165. The double cache will more than make up for the 200mhz clock speed loss, which you can easily acheive through overclocking. I recommend the following PSU's:

Enermax Whisper II 430W with 33A on a single +12V rail - ~$75
Very powerful PSU made by a reputable company, and also 33A on a SINGLE +12V, which is a lot more flexible than dual +12V rails. It's also pretty cheap too.

Sparkle 550W with 36A on a single +12V rail - ~$100
Made by Sparkle, so you're getting one of the best quality PSU's on the market. It's a little more powerful than the Enermax, but the efficiency is pretty low. However, it's a rock solid monster that'll handle anything you throw at it.

Seasonic 500W S12-500 with 33A on dual +12V rails - ~$120
Seasonic PSUs have very high efficiecies, so the extra money you spend on it will pay for itself through lower electricity bills. Dual +12V rails is supposed to be a bit more stable/safer, but it offers less flexibility than a single +12V rail. However, these things are like dead silent.

So those are my 3 picks on PSU's.

Okay, so say you have a PSU with dual +12V rails with 18A on each rail. That's a combined power of 36A on the +12V, which would be quite a lot of power. However, say you have a component that demands a minimum of 20A on the +12V. Well, if your +12V is split up, then the 18A on each +12V rail wouldn't be able to handle the component that requires 20A. However, ifyou have a single rail ith 36A, you'll be able to throw just about anything on it. That's what "more flexible" means.

This will never happen in a real world example.

There is no single component of a computer that will draw 240w by itself.

Oh, just get a tt tai chi case. I mean youre going all out and that case...with candalf is futureproof. it even has btx optionalform factor. one of the best out there. ill be getting it soon though...

Don't get worried about the stuff i'm about to say, your setup will work fine, this is just my personal opinion.

Mobo: I personally would get a DFI board, asus doesn't have the best price/performance ratio.

HD: I'm a seagate fan myself

Ram: That OCZ ram would work great with a DFI board... (It'll work with the asus, but It'll work faster with the DFI)

CPU: Couldn't be better

PSU: Awesome!!!

Case: I like lian-li, of course, that would be more expensive...

GPU: :thumbsup:

mobo- dfi ppl said it was a little tricky for first timers >.< and i dont want a huge hastle
hd- seagate didnt have 250gbs which i wanted and this one seems to be good as well

You can just get a normal GPU. Or look at ZipZoomFly.com. They are also reputable retailers...

You know, the 939 socket Opterons (1xx series) just came out... Apparently they are a revamp of the Athon 64's w/ server grade silicon. (Maybe intended for desktop servers?) Anyways, you should check out the dual core Opterons. The Opteron 165 is 1.8 GHz, 2x1MB L2 cache and otherwise is identical to a 3800+ X2 (and $20 cheaper)
