I've had my duron 900 up and running on a MSI K7T Turbo mobo for a solid month now...maybe closer to two months.
things are going so well with this machine, I've decided to pump it up a bit and o/c.
I have a GlobalWin FOP32-1 on the chip and cracking RC5 all day will raise the temp to no higher than 42C, depending on room temp it usually hovers right at 39C.
I have not unlocked the chip--still 9x multiplier.
here's the rub: when i try and up the fsb to anything above 105, the machine operates fine, cpu temps are normal, but when i try and reboot, the monitor goes into power saving mode and the hard drive light shows some activity--but the monitor never comes back on.
if i unplug the machine for a few seconds, then plug it back in, the machine comes back up fine...
i don't know what's going on or why i can't push the cpu to 110-120 fsb...
here are my machine specs (in detail):
AMD Duron 900
MSI K7T Turbo
Voodoo3 2000 PCI
SBLive! Value
Linksys LNE100TX NIC
Maxtor Diamondmax ATA/100 15.3GB
Seagate Bigfoot ATA/33 8GB
Plextor Plexwriter 12/10/32A
generic 3 year old floppy drive
Viewsonic PS775 monitor
Memory:
128MB Mushkin Rev1.5 PC133
64MB Kingston ValueRam PC100
64MB Generic PC100
-----------------------------------
I've removed all of the PC100 memory, too...no difference
good ventilation, too...5 system fans bringing
the internal case temp to near room temp.
why am i having trouble doing a simple fsb overclock?
thanks...
