help with 500 Celeron

I'm fairly new to this forum, but here goes my question:

I have a 500 Celeron in a Asus VA6 motherboard, using a generic converter to slot1. When I first start my computer, it takes more than 3 minutes to load into windows, and I think that's a very long time... when I first set it up, it would load much faster... but what I was thinking about doing now was switching my motherboard as I thought maybe that's the problem (because it was one of the cheaper ones when i bought it).. but I'm also thinking about overclocking the CPU.. any suggestions on what motherboard I can or should use?

I believe have enough RAM, I first had 128 pc100 RAM, but now i have 256 pc133 RAM more (i got it cheap, total 384mb)... if this is the wrong place for this question sorry, and please tell me where I should post it..

Just to let you know your pc133 ram will run @ pc100 with that pc100 in your system..

Did it slow down before or after the ram upgrade?
Did you add anything before it slowing down?
Mess with the BIOs?

I know the 133 will run at 100, but the CPU only runs at 66 (for now)... I haven't messed with the BIOS and I was thinking maybe some software may be the culprit...

3 mins from when i turn on, till when I have my start menu in windows.. but I think I will re-install... thanks for the help

Did you add a NIC? Networks can slow boot times. What are you loading at startup? Run msconfig and get rid of things you don't need.
