I try to boot up my computer but before the WindowsXP startup screen even starts up it tells me I have a corrupt System file (oh boy) in C:\Windows\System32\Config\System and that I should boot up with my cd-rom and use repair by pressing R.

So I booted up with the cd-rom, pressed r and it put me into the console. I typed in chkdsk, and tried to reboot, but that didn't work. =/ What command should I use?

I have an extra copy of winXP on my other hard-drive, so i backed up my other system file and copied the system file from my other hard-drive, but when I tried to boot up XP it would just say it failed to update the password, and then proceeds to reboot my computer.

Tried to get back into the repair console, but it asks my password. I tried my password that I normally use to get into it (used same pw for copies of WinXP too ) but it said that it was wrong.

I'm sure I can get into the console if i boot up using the copy of winXP on my hd that works, but I still dont know what to do. =(
