HELP - Windows delayed write fail.

Word & Excel keep asking, ?Do you want to save changes to document? after application is open then close with no changes have been made (document is on C: primary hdd). Also Xcopy also spit out the ?Windows delayed write fail? error on Windows 2000pro (xcopy c:\dir\document e:\dir\document.

The little I have read on web suggesting that the hdd is failing & is what causing the problem. But, it is very strange that this happened after the computer were service by Dell (they reinstall the OS), and after I deleted some of the archive files (old quicken files).

I haven?t had the time to try running chkdsk to see if it would fix the problem.

Does anyone have other suggestions that I can try prior to replacing C: & E: drive?

Thanks

if it's a Dell OEM machine it's likely the C and E drive are just differant partitions of a single drive, I would make the time to run chkdisk just in case. Also like nothinman suggested it would be a good idea to review the event logs to see what it has to say about the problem

Both C: & E: partitions are on 2 separate hdds.

And thanks, I'll look at event viewer prior to the check disk.
