HELP! Windows 2000 logon screen keeps pooping up!

after I log on to windows 2000 I can hear the w2000 startup music but I can't get in. The logon window keeps popping up.

I'm logging in as the administrator and password is OK.

I reenter the password and it starts all over again.

here's the real strange thing, when I go to a network computer I can get into this machine and pull files out of my shared folders. So I know the OS is running, I just can't get to it.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Pigseye

Hi MedicBob,
Unfortuantely I don't konw how to get into safe mode in win2000.

Good idea though, I'll do some research and give it a try.

thanks,
Pigseye

Try a repair install. Its a long shot but it MIGHT work. Boot off of the cd, choose your OS and then repair.

Hi Guys,
I appreciate your responses but Repair didn't work. I tried that right away.

My other log ins don't work either. It seems like all my log ons do the same thing.

Any other ideas? I'm getting desperate.

Thanks,
Pigseye

Can you get into "Computer Management" from another PC? You can then remotely look at the event log, create another user account etc.

Open Computer Management in the control panel and right click on Computer Management (local) and connect to the PC with the problem.

Hi Relayer,
Unfortunately I don't konw what computer management is. I'll do some research and see if I can do it.

I'll let you know how it works out.

Thanks for the suggestion.
Pigseye
