Is the Sony WEGA KV36XBR400 at $2100 worth the extra cost over the
sony WEGA KV36FV26 at $1600?

Thanks

If I had to choose between either one of these (I wish I had that luxury), then I would definately go with the XBR. Why? Because of the support for all 18 DigitalTV formats; I would be kicking myself pretty hard down the road if I paid this much for a TV and it's already outdated in 3 years.

I recently just purchased the 32" XBR400, and all I can say is WOW. They didn't have the 36" in stock. The XBR model is by far the best TV I have ever had and I definately would tell you to go with the 36" version.

Thanks for the inpt but that is just a little too pricy for me.

My friend has a 24" Wega, and it looks superb, I'm sure these are amazing.

I didn't realize that it was pronounced Vegatron. What's the deal with the German W sound?

I'm just wondering whether any of those TV's really CAN get the resolutions they boast.. anyone ever see one with something OTHER then NTSC (perhaps a DVD playing at 720X480, does it compare to monitors?) 640X480 or whatever that res is..

Why aim low? And what's $9K among friends? :p

I actually have seen that model at Best Buy ... but I haven't seen it since. It was only $6K then ... if that helps. :)

here is the latest Wega model I just saw yesterday in akihabara.

KV-36DZ900

the dot pitches are 60% denser than previous XBR models.

at this resolution I was unable to tell any picture difference between HDTV models even when
looking at them side by side.

price approx = $3300 more density for more bux

It's beginning to look a lot like the XBR is the TV of choice... Now I just have to convince myself that I will get $2100 of enjoymnet out of it. By the way is that WEGA=VEGA like Chevrolet Vega???

Just bought a 32fv16 like, er, last sunday. My bro and I were drooling over the 36xbr400 but at x2 the cost we had to say no. Is it worth the extra $500? Well you are already up to an outrageous amount for a tv what's 500 more?

Whatever you do, goto either www.avsforum.com or www.hometheaterforum.com and look in the tv areas of both. You will find _all_ the info you need on any wega tv. Beware that there is a brightness issue and some geometry problems with them. As well the build quality can be shoddy to. You just might save your self some $$$ and some headaches. Hope this helps!
