oil all over the place, and I dont know where it's coming from. the whole back of the engine is oily.

PICS (large)

Notice the oil on the bottom of the hood/top of the intake/ all over the place?

What'd I blow up?

you drove it too hard is what you did! :) I can't seem to tell where the origin of that liquid is. BTW: nice car.

First guess is head gasket, cept there is no coolant leaking. Check your radiator for oil in the coolant.

Second is engine seal.

Either way, BAD, don't drive until you figure it out... If you starve the engine of the oil it needs, you will be able to put those new pistons in that you wanted :)

to check for a headgasket, take off the radiator cap when it cool and look in it, if its oily, you need a new headgasket. Good news is, they are a dirt cheap, bad news is, they are a bitch to get to.

Personalluy, i'd get it towed to a shop and have them look at it.

More than likely it is your rear main seal....those always go in 5.0s...however it does seem high to be that......however on a second examination I am most certain it is your rear main, that and your valve cover gasket might be going as well, but that would not be as dramatic as this.

The trick to see if it is a blown head gasket is by looking in your overfill tank for your radiator while the engine is running...if you see bubbles then you have blown a head gasket...not a major job in a fox body stang but since you have the charger you could have nuked something else like a valve or something in the process depending on how much boost you pushing.

Just wanted to guess at your car's year...and my guess is a 90-91...

good luck with it, they are great cars

notfred,

Check your PCV hose and valve. COnsidering your car is supercharged I think you migh have blown the PCV valve along with the Screen scrubber right out of the intake manifold. When this happens oil will shoot all over the back of the engine. You also might have blown the back of the intake gasket, the part that goes across the block between the heads. I seriously doubt you blew a head gasket. The extra pressure in the crankcase caused by supercharged engines and blowby can create all kinds of problems. You might want to look into installing a positive crankcase pump, available straight from any FORD Motorsports dealer, it will help alleviate this problem and give you a few extra ponies also.

check your oil pressure sending unit. I think it is located on the back of the block at the top. I hope it is something that simple

gotey,

On a 5.0 the oil pressure sending unit is on the lower left front of the block just above the oil filter.

Ronstang, you're pretty much right on with the PCV valve thing. Long Story:

This morning, I went to get my car smogged (required for registration in CA). However, the car's not smog legal if all the PCV stuff isn't hooked up. SO, last night I attached a crankcase ventilation hose (goes from oil filler to throttle body - bad place for a supercharged car). Previously, the hose was gone, and the attachments for it were capped, and I jsut had a ventilated oil cap.

OK, so i drove it to the smog place this morning, and, as required by law, they pulled the PCV to check it out. When they put it back in, however, it didn't seat as tightly as it had previously. Remeber, with the vent hose hooked up, I'm putting 7lbs of boost into the crankcase.... When I left the smog place the boost popped the PCV vale out, covering my engine nicely with oil.

I panicked, took pictures, put them on the internet....

Fixed it now, though, popped the PCV valve back in, and pulled off that damn hose, and went back to the vented oil cap.
