I have a question which has been driving me nuts. There's a game I'm looking for, and I don't know what it is. Until recently, I thought it's Blood.
Well, I HAVE seen Blood yesterday, finally, and it's not the game I was thinking of - which means I'm getting a faulty memory, not funny at my age. It also means I have no idea what game I'm looking for. I just know it was a first-person shooter, sprite-based (therefore old!), but unlike other games made in this fashion, it enlarged its fighting territory (cool!) instead of simply changing levels, and it required you, on several occasions, to talk to the characters (actually, you had to choose different replies).
It starts with you being asked by a merchant to steal some weapon for him. Later, it develops quite dramatically - you get to fight a religious brotherhood which controls the city, join an underground resistance movement, whose leader (you find out much later in the game) is a traitor, and while all this is happening, you have to acquire all the pieces of a superweapon, which first rains fire on your enemies and later throws great globules of plasma at them (kinda like the ultimate weapon in Doom).
Do you know what game this is? I only played it in 1996, at a friend's place, and I can't get him to answer me this question. It's really frustrating! :|
