No, I don't know much, if anything about digital cameras. I am buying the Olympus 3000 as a gift and I thought I needed a 32 mb smartmedia card by Sandisk, but now I see this 32mb flash card with memory. What is the difference? I don't want to purchase something I don't need.

thanks!

Smartmedia is a flash card. Digital Cameras can use Compact Flash, Smartmedia Flash. Sony uses the Memory stick. Look at the requirements...It should tell you if it is Compact or Smartmedia.

Take a look at the Lexar Compactflash, these card are USB enabled. They come with USB cable that has at the end Compactflash adapter. You connect it to the USB port, and at the first time load the drivers. You take the card out of the camera, and plug it to the usb reader, it config it self automatically as an additional drive on you PC. This is the fastest, and the easiest way (that I ever encountered) to manipulate files on and off the compactflash card.

Lexar have a site that list most of the compatible cameras

http://www.lexarmedia.com/

Lexar has a line of SmartMedia, and a line of FlashCards, so you can get some info about this subject.

You need to get the smartmedia card. Lucky person who is getting that camera. You might want to consider getting a 64MB smartmedia card instead of a 32MB one. I currently have the 450z and was thinking of getting the 3030 as a gift for someone.
