HELP!! WEIRD SMELL

this is pissin me off now...this weird smell from my pc has been there since i replaced my processor fan about a month or 2 ago and hasn't gone away. i thought it was just a temporary smell but it got to the point now where my room smells like it. if i turn off my pc it goes away though. my pc is working smoothly so i don't think any hardware is burning....but the smell sure does smell like hardware burning. im stumped....can anyone help me out??
 
Open the case and look for swollen leaky capacitors. Shut the lights off and look at the mob with night vision goggles...might see something glowing that shouldn't.

Bwahahaha! You actually own one of those?

What kind of smell is it? Is it like the smell when you burn the handle of a saucepan? Or is it a more 'softer' smell?

 
Make sure you don't have any dust building up in your heat sink. I have had this problem since I've upgraded my motherboard and CPU - if I don't blow the dust out of the heat sink fins about every month, it starts to smell funny. I used some of the canned air that they sell to clean out your keyboard, etc, but you might be able to figure out a cheaper way.
