ok right now i have my Athlon 64 3000+ w/ a Gigabyte k8ns pro mobo and a BFG 6800 OC ...the thing that pisses me off the most is that first of all i had quite alot of problems w/ the motherboard...temps dont record right.. so i have no idea what temp my CPU is @ @ ne given time... and also i cant run my DDR ram at PC3200(200Mhz) speeds.. its stuck on PC2700(166Mhz) speeds....

what my question is...is should i at least change my mobo... and if so..what is THE BEST socket 754 mobo money can buy...overall the best mobo...or if not that...should i just upgrade everything to socket 939.... wut does everyone think...the games i play the most is CS:S, farcry, HL2, and a lil doom 3... so i would like some help..that would be awsome...thanks peoples...

Live with it.

Sometimes I encounter little glitches in a computer setup that bug me. In fact, it is hard to find a setup that doesn't live up to my expectations (granted, sometimes those expectations are a little too far fetched). Anyway, I would suggest looking for MBM 5 (google it) since your mobo may have been supported by that program before they stopped the project. If not, see if your mobo maker supplies anything to help you keep track of your temps.

As far as upgrading, I would suggest not doing it. You have a pretty nice computer as is, and I am assuming you have an AGP video card. While you can upgrade to 939, you would probably want to get a board with AGP to support your card, and you wouldn't see much of an increase in speed vs. 754. If you want a new mobo for your 754 chip, look into the DFI boards. But if the only thing bugging you about your current setup is your hardware monitoring - that is, your system is stable and you are not looking to do major overclocking, then I would try and live with it. From what you stated as your specs for your station, it should be more than adequate to run the games you are playing. So in the meantime, just enjoy the games you have and let the cost of computing come down. Better computing will be cheaper tomorrow, my friend.

I like my DFI UT boards (best oc'ing board out there w/ lot's of features), but the ram speed thing may just be your ram. What brand is it?

And the temperature thing is shared by a lot of boards. What problems do you have beside the ram and the temps?

I would try a bios update first there are about 10 of them on gigabytes website for that board.

http://tw.giga-byte.com/Mother...BIOS_GA-K8NS%20Pro.htm

I bought an abit kv8max3 also the 754 socket it had temp calibration problems also flashed bios and corrected it. Also had to replace the crappy sleeve fan they had on north bridge after only 3 months.

My point being all boards will have some issues.

How many sticks of ram do you have installed? If you have double sided ram occupying at least 3 DIMM slots, the motherboard/CPU might downclock it to PC2700/DDR333.
