Help w/ networking 2 pc's (pc n00b here)

Hi folks,

I've recently acquired another system and am now in the process of trying to network the two machines together. My main system is duron 700 @ 900, and I'm trying to network it with a pentium 2 333. I have 2 NIC's installed in my main system; 1 connected to my DSL line and the other is running a CAT 5 cable to the NIC in the second machine.

I followed the instructions for physically setting up my machines as seen at http://forums.anandtech.com/arcmess...hreadid=369286&highlight_key=y&keyword1=share , but I'm having problems configuring the two systems - the instructions weren't that clear. I have TCP / IP enabled on both systems, and have enabled file and print sharing on both systems as well, but for some reason they can't see each other. If anyone could give me some step by step instructions on how to go about this I would be greatly appreciative.

PS - both systems are running windows 98.

Make sure they are in the same workgroup and what kind of cable are between the two computers, if its one cable goin from comp1 to 2, then it must be a crossover cable.
