Help w/linux

I was wanting to install linux (preferable mandrake) on my ata100 hd... I have an asus a7v mobo (w/ata100 on board). But everytime i try it doesn't find the hard drive. have attempted mandrake 7.0 and 7.2. It does however find my other 2 hd's which are on the ata66 controller. Any ideas on how to get it on the ata100 hd... is there any build of linux that will work? THX

It's likely that the ATA100 chip simply isn't supported yet (I'm not sure though as I have no experience with that board). If so you have basically two options: hold out on Linux until the ATA100 chipset is supported, or put it on one of those hard drives on the ATA66 controller. I really like Linux myself so I would say that it would be worth making an effort, but if it's gonna cause too much trouble I'd say just stick with Windows (or whatever else you might be using) for now.
