HELP W/ EXPLORER

ok i think something is really wrong w/ internet explorer for me... first of all i cant open hotmail...gmail...i cant run most javascripts on webpages.... when i clicked new topic on this forum nothing would happen... same if i would be in newegg and try to add somehting in my cart...it wouldnt work... clicking on buttons on myspace wouldnt work.. i couldnt add a friend hahahah... but this is seriously pissing me off...

in addition to that i cant get into my system restore to roll back my system... i would click it and no box would appear... i would click it again and the box would appear but nothing would be in the window... i try to getinto my device manager and this dialog always pops up

"MMC requires Internet Explorer 5.5 or greater to be installed."

wtf is wrong w/ explorer.. should i reformat... but thats the last thing i wanna do... any suggestions?? please help
 
ohh btw i am using firefox right now and everything works fine on that... so its that damn explorer... and in addition i cant go to the windows update website... thanks.. any help would be great
 
This may help.

I'm guessing you're infected with spyware and/or viruses and/or trojans, etc. however.

Do a search with my username. I have another post with links for spyware removal. There is lots of information on this on the web also.

Be forewarned that it is usually best with a heavily infected system to format and start anew. The only sure way to get rid of everything.
 
I second the previous replies. This sounds all too much like a recent "tech support" job I got. You throw the book and a few hours at the slippery code but it just pops up again. Once you get one trojan, it invites all its little friends and they have a party in your computer.

Read up on security and prepare before you wipe it all and reinstall. Might help if you can install the anti-virus and firewall software before you log on to the Internet with a brand new install of Windows.
And try not to let IE do much else than Windows Update 🙂

Download Microsoft's Antispyware tool (URL in my .sig) and try it. It will take all of 3 minutes if you're not infected (and more if you are) and resolves most spyware/malware issues within a reboot or two.
