Help W/CD-RW's

i need help installing a CD-RW along w/my cd rom. I tried making the CD-RW master and the CD-Rom slave, but when i started my computer it said drive not ready. I've tried about every possible connection there is. Someone help me. Thanks in advance.
P.S. BTW, i'm new here and this is my very first post.
 
Make sure the jumpers on the rear are set correctly, for the master and slave units. Try just installing the master device first. Then, once that problem is fixed, add the slave device. Also make sure the IDE cable is postitioned correctly, with the red strip towards the power connector.
