help! voltage fluctuations

I was wondering if anyone could give me some insight on voltages. I running an Athlon 1Ghz, 300W Antec PS, 2 hard drives, 1 dvd rom, 1 burner, 2 case fans, GeForce2, SB Live, and an network card on an ASUS A7V board.

When I start my computer, I usually get an error message about hardware monitor problems. When I go there it says my -3V and -5V are out of range. If I hit F1 to continue it boots up fine. After I boot up, AsusProbe says my +5V is out of range for a while... but eventually will be fine.

Is this something I should be concerned about? What should/can I do?

Thanks for all your help!

It might help to know how far off those voltages are and what voltages the alarm is set to go off at. In general, <5% is totally normal and >10% makes me pretty nervous.

If you've got some generic power supply then it might be crapping out on you. If you've got a good power supply, then it sounds like something is wrong with your voltage controller on the A7V.

Yeah, try to find out how much off the voltages are. Around 5% is no big deal, 10% or so means things will start to fry.

The voltages aren't off by too much according to Asus Probe. The +5V is usually higher at about 5.51V or so. My alarms are set to go off at 10%

I think you should contact your vendor and RMA the PS. If you can you might try to verify your findings using a multimeter and you also might want to try a different PS in case one of your components is at fault. I would NOT try your existing PS on a different system though.
