Help Using Q-Fan on a A7N8X Deluxe?

I am trying to use the Q-Fan set up on the A7N8X deluxe MB..
Do I need a Fan with speed sensing? What wattage Fan is best.

I asked ASUS and they ignored my question and sent a new bios AN8D1002.007
- It adds a "RED" set up instruction to the BIOS when turning on Q-Fan telling me to connect the CPU speed
sensing fan to the MB PWR_FAN1 connector. I assume they have labled this MB wrong and this is to fix it.

Has anyone got a good Q-Fan review/description discussing the details
or have allready set it up.

Please help.

Q-Fan watches the temperature of the CPU. If the temperature is below a certain threshold, the motherboard will begin reducing the voltage on the CPU_FAN1 header step by step until either the CPU begins to exceed the threshold temperature or else the voltage reaches its lowest level. You can set the parameters in your BIOS as desired.

Basically, with Q-Fan you trade off some of your cooling for lower noise.

OK, I understand - speed sensing is not required. Just temp vs voltage.
Just 1 channel is active - the CPU Header.
-------------------
Explain this...
I have the CPU fan on the CPU header.
I have the PWR supply Fan speed sensing wires plugged into the PWR fan header.
The MB sees no speed on the CPU fan because it has no speed PPM output.
--
I turned on the Q-Fan and with the CPU Temp reported at 32 deg
NO Fan slow down.
---
So maybe the board is wired wrong - like the new BIOS implies,
and it is trying to slow down the PWR supply fan but it's +12V is not connected.

What do you think - connect the CPU Fan to the PWR header connecter and try it?

OK I tried it _ I put the CPU fan on the PWR header -no change in speed with temp at 32degc and Q-fan turned on.

anybody ever used this technology or is this marketing hype?

I use it on my A7V333 sometimes, but it does seem like a halfway solution when the real solution is to get cooling that's quiet to start with, like an SK-7 with a Panaflo L1A 80mm fan.
