Tyler and I adopted a dog today. We now are the proud parents of Gypsy. She is a one year old Boston Terrier

Again

My husband and I just recently lost our 5 yr old basset hound Peaches. She had a ruptured disc, and became paralyzed in her back legs, lost control of her bladder. We were told even with surgery she may never walk again or gain control of her bladder and bowels. We made the hard decision to put her down. We didn't want her to suffer anymore.

Now we are looking for a new dog but we are having a hard time choosing which one we want, we like them all. We have a 1 yr old cat so we need a dog that gets along with cats. Also we want a dog that will be good with children when we decide to have a baby.

Here are our choices

A)Cooper
B)Lorenzo
C)Missy Anne

I like some small dogs but don't like any of those kinds. With that said if I had to pick I would choose Missy Anne

Only get a Welsh Corgi if you have the time to walk and play with them for over two hours a day, pups will have a lot of energy

None of the above.

Find a yorkshire terrior.. the only dog in the size range you're looking at that I can tolerate.

Peaches was also a resuce. We adopted her from Belly Rubs Basset Rescue. She was such a joy to have, I really miss her.

We got a 6 week old beagle about 6 weeks ago and he has been a really good puppy so far and loves to play with the cat next door. It really depends on the cat...if it is used to dogs then you should have no problems. "Buster" is also already crate trained and sleeps is his kennel at night with minimal whining. We have a 13 year old Golden that is sadly approaching his last days and he has been a great family dog so we did a lot of research on it and beagles kept coming up. So far so good.

I vote you get whatever dog makes you happy, and forget the comments being made here about "real dogs." Out of those dogs I'd prefer Cooper, his health issues sound like a bit of a concern though, especially for such a tiny dog.

I like little dogs, AND big dogs. My wife and I have a Maltese/Shih Tzu mix (she looks almost pure bred maltese though except for her brown spots), she's awesome. The funny thing about her is, she's 8 pounds and tiny, but doesn't like other small dogs. Get her around a big dog and she's in heaven though, she was raised with a 150 pound Mastiff (who has since died).

We actually just got another dog last night that we found on pet finder. He's a Weimaraner/Lab mix, so he's going to be a pretty good sized dog. Our current dog will be happy when he's grown, but right now she's NOT impressed.

I don't have any real experience with very little dogs.
Just seems like the one's I've met have been very hyper and barked a lot.
But I'm sure not all of them are like that.

We've got 2 rescue dogs. An australian sheperd mix and a doberman mix. With young kids, we couldn't ask for better dogs. They are the most gentle dogs I've ever seen. Our doberman thinks he's a lap dog.

Personally, I'd want to meet those dogs first and choose based on their personality. You certainly don't want any aggresive tendencies if you are going to be having a baby.
