I'm planning to upgrade the CPU in my Asus A7V133. I want to get the best CPU the motherboard can handle but that I won't be wasting my money on because of the slow bus speed on the A7V133. Any and all advice welcome.

Thanks!

p.s. - I know the spec says 1.3+ GHZ, but I'm hoping you guys will know better.

Only way to find out is try. Some boards will accept all the way to the xp2100+ palomino core. My revision 1.04 board is currently running an xp2000+ in normal jumperless mode. What i'm looking to find out now is if the A7V133 supports at least a TbredA cpu.

most boards have come out with bios revisions that let them use the athlon xp
see if there are bios upgrades that include use of athlon xp

this comp im on now has an old ga-7zx kt133 mobo but i put new bios on it now it can use the new athlon xp

You can check out this for CPU/Motherboard support.

According to BIOS Version 1009 (Which is the lastest released version of the BIOS, non-beta) for the A7V133, it will support up to AMD XP 2200+ Throughbred:

Here is the latest beta BIOS for the A7V133, I'm not sure what it supports:

Hope this will help in your decision.
