Hey guys, it seems like my board died and it killed my video card in the process, so im left with my 2 gb 667mhz ram, 2 hard drives, my antech 600 watts psu and an intel core 2 duo of 2.13 ghz, so, i was wondering...

Do you guys think with this cpu, a new board, some more ram and a new video card i could get Guild Wars 2 to run properly? If thats the case, what board and video card would you recommend?

I would appreciate any recommendations, as i havent been updated in the pc gaming thing for about 6 years.

Thanks!!

:D

Forget the CPU and memory, unless you are serious crash strapped.

Guild Wars 2 only supports 2 threads. So a Celeron/Pentium SB dualcore would be good there. G530 comes to mind for example.

It depends what resolution you play in mainly and what you expect. And more importantly, your budget.

Ill go with the answer DSF suggested to make this easier.

1. Playing guild wars 2.

2. I would say 200 dollars for board and videocard, its an old rig, and im seriously only going to use it for guild wars 2 hehe.

3. USA.

4. Not a fan boy at all.

5. Core 2 Duo E6400 Conroe Processor 2.13GHz, 2x1 Gb ddr2 5300 667 mhz if you guys think its worth keeping them.

7. No overclocking

8. 1920x1080

9. 28 august.

Thx a lot guys!

Probably yeah, being only 2.13GHz. Get a new, cheap G41-chipset board and a Hyper 212+ then overclock your E6400.

Asrock G41M-S3 $45
Hyper 212+ $20 AR these two should be ok for a moderate OC
4GB Samsung DDR3-1600 CL11 1.35V $24, it's 1333 compatible too, and very versatile... capable of 2133 1.5V on boards that support it. You might be able to run it 1333/CL9/1.35V
MSI 7770 $110 AR

= $199 AR + shipping

The DDR3 and the aftermarket cooler can probably carry over when you upgrade the CPU/mobo to something modern.

Interesting alternatives guys, so the G530 would beat the core 2 duo by far?

I mean, this wouldnt bottleneck the 7770 nor gtx560?

This is a similar comparison, although I couldn't get the exact CPU models you're talking about on Anandtech's bench. I wouldn't say it's by far necessarily, but the G-series is faster.

Edit: Oops, forgot the link:

An added benefit is that it gets you on a modern platform where you could (conceivably) drop in an Ivy Bridge quad if you so desired. Basically your cost ends up being $74 (G530 $50, 4GB DDR3 $24, equivalent mobo cost) to get to a modern platform with better performance and upgrade potential.

Superclocked EVGA GTX560, 135$ after rebate.

"Bad request"

Seems they roll the different GTX560 around in terms of rebate. There is zero reasons to buy a HD77xx.
Not really, 7770 consumes a lot less power than GTX 560, and an EVGA 560 is going to make more noise than a Sapphire Vapor-X. The Vapor-X also performs really well:

Guys, just noticed in the board specs that it will only support 1333 mhz ram with sandy bridge processors, should i get 1333 ram instead of the suggested 1600?
