OK, I installed win2k prof. and the USB doesn't work.

In Device Mgr, I see the following entry:
Unsupported VIA USB Universal Host Controller

"No drivers are installed for this device.
If you are having problems with this device, click Troubleshooter to start the troubleshooter."

Where can I get the drivers?
My motherboard brand is listed in my sig.

Thanks for any help!

Also, in device mgr, under the "driver" tab for this USB entry, I see the following:

Driver Provider: Microsoft
Driver Date: 11/14/1999
Driver Version: 5.0.2183.1
Digital Signer: MS Windows 2000 Publisher

This file worked for a friend of mine with an older VIA chipset: [L=]http://download.viahardware.com/usbf108.exe[/L]

While you're at it, you might as well install this file too for an updated AGP driver and some other goodies: [L=]http://downloads.viaarena.com/drivers/4in1/4in1436(3)v(a).zip[/L]

Hope it helps.

Yup, I just had to manually install the USB driver, & I used the one on the win2k CD.
Now, I can use my Compact Flash reader on my desktop, not just my laptop !!
THANKS !

When I kept my 2 USB devices plugged in during reboot (win2k)
the PC would reboot amid botting up. (endless loop)
Right at the initial blue screen (No, not THE blue screen) when it says "windows is starting up"
the problem was rectified when I disconnected both devices.
(I didnt bother to narrow it down to one or the other!)

What gives?
