I have version 6.0.0.23 and am trying to update to the newest version. When I try to uninstall nero through control panel I get the following message "Nero 6 Demo is currently using files that need to be updated. Please close Nero 6 and start the setup again." I also get the same error if I try and upgrade.

THen when I try to uninstall form NEro's unistalled I get "The configuration file was not found"

ANyone kow what else to try?

Doesn't NERO uninstall (or update) the previous version itself? You dont have to do anything as far as I know as it will do it for you when you install a newer version.

Roll back your machine and try again.

I get the same error whether I try and unistall the old version or update/upgrade the older one.
Not sure about "rolling" back my machine. What exaclty is that for and how can it help me in this situation?

thanks

I had a similar problem happen to me once, what I did was reinstall Nero,so in your case reinstall Nero 6.0.0.23,you should be able to update to the latest version then without need to uninstalling 6.0.0.23 again.

Good idea Mem but it didn't work. I tried to upgrade 6.0.0.23 to 6.0.0.23, tried to uninstall, and even tried to downgrade to 6.0.0.9. I get the same darn error.

Any other ideas?

Hmmm open up Windows task manager and see if you`ve any Nero programs running, close them all if any appears listed, you could try disabling anti-virus as well, shouldn`t interfere with it but worth a try.

Btw try a reboot as well.

Try rolling your machine back to a date before Nero got messed up. Use System Restore (for xp ... Start>All Progs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore).

You guys are gonna laugh at me. Like Mem suggested, I rebooted. It worked fine then. Not sure files it was using and I can't remember the last time I burned something. OH well, thatks for all the help everyone.

BTW if my problem were not corrected if I rolled back my system wouldn't it also "undo" everything else that has been done since that point? Liek installed programs, saved files, windows settings, etc.?
