Help! Two Partition's Can't Merge/Resize

I'm using Partition Magic Pro 7.0 under Windows XP with an IBM Deskstar 60gxp 40 gig. I have two partitions, a 23 gig d: and a 17 gig c:. I just recently went from dual booting 98/XP to just XP on C:, and now I have an empty 23 gig d: which I would like to resize or merge into my C:. Everytime I try to perform an operation on D: though my computer locks up, the numlock key doesn't work, and I have to restart. Is this because of bad sectors or is there a problem with my drive? Or is there another program that works with winxp/dos that I can try to resize/merge the two partitions.

Why don't you try to create the bootable floppies to run PM 7 from?
Btw, I couldn't get PM 7 to resize my XP installation that had the default Ntfs-XP partition format. Maybe it's XP that's the problem.

I think Xp has a 32GB limit on Fat32 partitions.
Maybe thats causing the problem.😕

Can you just delete "D", then resize "C" ?
Does it lock up before you get that far?

Checked for updates/patches for PM-7 ?

yeah, i just deleted D and resized C... although when resizing C it froze at 99%... but I restarted and apparently everything worked fine. I'm just kind of scared since I had to restart so many times and my computer froze so many times while messing with my hard drive... kinda nauscious heh

"kinda nauscious heh "

Yeah,
Sorta like flashing a Bios and the computer
just seems to sit there and take it's time.
