We have a local bakery that makes the BEST pies,pricey but oh so worth it... I picked my Thanksgiving pies this afternoon
there,s a huge pecan pie and shudder... "Mile High" apple pie sitting in the kitchen along with some nice ice cold milk
calling my name 😀
 
Well, at least it's not "Strudel" that's calling your name, that would be worrisome. 😉

BTW, WTF, no pumpkin pie ? You cannot have a complete Thanksgiving spread without a pumpkin pie (although sweet potatoe pie is an acceptable alternative). 🙂

lol, well, I fought the pie and the pie won,sitting here now with a nice fat slice of warm pecan pie ala mode...hehehe, I will be dashing back to the bakery again tommorow

What I am more worried about is that Mr. Pecan Pie knows your name and probably knows so much more... :Q 😉
 
Since you seem to be a pastry conessieur, what's the difference between an apple pie and dutch apple pie?

i'm gonna give this a shot.....regular apple has the lattice dough crust, while dutch has more of a flattened dough crust that covers the whole top of the pie
 
Andy, thanks. I always noticed how the tops of apple vs dutch pies are different, so that's the only difference between the two?

Nothing beats pecan or peach pie.
