I'm putting together a system that worked perfectly yesterday.
xp2500 barton retail
MSI K7N2 Delta L
3 X 256mb PC2700
120GB Seagate ata100 7200 8mb
PNY Geforce4 ti 4200 64 mb
Pacific Digital CDRW
Case was a newegg special - Aspire Turbo Case X Dreamer w/ 350W ps

I loaded XP pro on it yesterday and everything was running great. Today I got a dvd-rom drive and installed it into the case. I had the HD as the master and the CDRW as slave on IDE1. When I added the DVD, I put it as the slave on IDE1 and made the CDRW the master on IDE2. I went to plug the power cord in and the PS switch was on. The PC started up when I put power to it and the fans ran slow. The case has an LED fan and a lighted temp display on the front. Both of these lights flashed on and off and there was a "click click click" sound coming from somewhere. I pulled the cord and unhooked the DVD and set it back to the configuration I had yesterday. Plugged in again, hit the PS siwtch on the back and got the same thing. I then unplugged all devices, including the monitor, keyboard and mouse. Same thing happened, except the clicking was slower, maybe a second apart where they were a half second apart before. I tried pushing the power button on the front and the clicking went faster, but it would not power up fully. Any Ideas anyone? Recommendations on where to start?? I'm guessing MB or PSU, but don't know what to do next...

My bet would be on the power supply.

Try using another one, if u have one on another machine, or borrow a friends.

You might wanna check your manual about the LEDs, usually they give you some good diagnostic information.
