Help: system stops @ the "detecting IDE drives"

Putting a new system together. I get a POST, reads the cpu, then just stops after the "detecting IDE drives" message comes up. No keyboard response at all. When I try to reboot, no post at all, blank screen. Any ideas, tips. ....thanks.

Sounds like you fux0red the IDE jumper settings.

Make sure you have the master/slave/single settings correct for all IDE interfaces.

OK.....double checked all jumpers/cables. Took cdrom cable off completely, now it stops after reading the cpu and doesnt display the "detecting message". Tried clearing cmos, no avail. Power supply?....bad floppy / hard drive stopping the progression detect?
