help!: system hard freezes at least once a day!!!

I don't know exactly which forum would be best so I'll post it here...

I don't know what's going on with my system but it freezes up at least once a day now (the desktop is displayed, and sometimes the mouse responds, but nothing else does and only minimal visual updates (mbm temps, animated mouse)...

afaik it's not that my computer is overheating, it's got plenty of cooling but the only sensors I have are in the case/cpu/chipset and those are normally in the 30s

I have a Dell Truemobile Router/Firewall and I think its setup properly (but with these problems I don't know)... I have Spybot, The Cleaner, and AVG installed and they don't have any issues to report... I also have the system hooked upto an APC ups (Backup UPS ES 500) and it's only gonna off once (electrical noise).

Intel D875PBZLK mobo
Pentium4 3.0ghz 800mhz FSB
2x 512gb of PC3200 DDRAM
ATI radeon 9800 Pro 256
SB Audigy2
Highpoint SATA raid 1520
two WD Raptors (36gb ver)
two WD 250gb SATA drives
Lite-On 16x dvd drive
Plextor 708 DVDRW (8x)

and I'm using a Planar 20" LCD and the Logitech MX Wireless Duo... I purchase most of the system straight from abspc, but I've modified it since then heavily...

I'm using WinXP and I could do a reinstall easily _except_ for the fact that I have about 250 gigs of anime on a raid volume that I'd need to burn before feeling comfortable doing so... (I archieve anime)

anyways, it's not your mouse batteries right? I had an old Intel wireless mouse and I thought the system was freezing up cuz the mouse would be very slow to respond, but as soon as I switched the mouse problem was solved

actually I'm starting to think it's my vid card overheating, as the last time it crashed it was pretty hot (but I don't have any way of sensoring it)..

what temp should the vid card be at? and still be ok? (it's not OC'd) - could I underclock it to see if that solves the problem?
