Does anyone know a program or something that will let me disable the 2 start button keys on my keyboard. Its very annoying when i accidently press it in games then my comp freezes. Removing the key would work but then the keyboard would look dumb...

I think you can just uninstall the drivers for your keyboard and install the windows ones. I am not sure if the windows ones support that key. Unless you already are and then I have no idea. Try this, put something under the key so that you cant press the key unless you press it really hard. Unless you keyboard is see through like mine, it will work. Even if it is see through you can hide a piece of paper under the key. Pop out the key and put a couple of wads of paper under there and see if it works.

dang, this brings back memories - remember TEN? It was in competition with mplayer - well anyway, back in the day they had a program to disable it (but that was with win 95, so mileage may vary - dunno if their still around) hopefully they died a horrible death for charging ppl for playing online games

That brings up something related that I have been wondering about for a while now. How the heck do you remap your keys on the keyboard? I have done several searches but can't find anywhere to tell me how, not even Microsoft's website. Reason I ask is a key has stopped working on my old keyboard. I could just get another one for relatively cheap but I would rather just remap the key to a different one that I don't use permanently.

Download the IntelliKey software from Microsoft, run the keyboard setup thing in control panel afterwards. Select your keyboard model, and tell it to disable the keys. Try it out.

Qwik, will this program work with non-ms boards?

They say it is not intended, but it doesn't mean it ain't.

It might, you'll just have to tell it you have a regular MS keyboard. Try it out.

AmdEmAll, that "start menu" key on newer keyboards is great. You can do some cool stuff with it. If you press it and the "m" key at the same time it minimizes everything on the screen, quite useful.

Just pop the keys off. It is most likely very easy to put them back if you want them later.

Start + D minimizes everything, including non-minimizable things like install programs.
