Installed it and now I can't even get past boot. It keeps rebooting after showing the windows start screen, screen goes blank for a long while and... beeep, reboot. Any suggestions to reverse this????? I really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really don't want to reinstall...

Can you buy new machine? LOL J/k

If you have a roll back, try that! I found this info Here... Click me.

Good luck.

Also, they recommend using the full SP2 and not the express. It seem express will put Ur PC on a quicker breakdown.

Same thing happend with mine, was able to go into the recovery console and burn my mp3s and other files onto a disk with the built in Windows Burner, but other programs i tried did not function correctly or at all, so i just reinstalled, then immediately downloaded SP2 from the Windows Update site before doing anything else. Seems to be working so far.

This remind me of Word Perfect conflict with MS Word. Word Perfect always been around and when you install MS Word (MSWord just came out that time).. boom.. Word Perfect is dead.

Now Norton always been around, when U install SP2 (which comes with a built in Antispam/firewall/etc) and boom Norton has problem.

There is so much FUD and misinformation being spread in these SP2 threads. How exactly can SP2 cause system instability when it is UNINSTALLED?

Agreed...I get messages about low system resources and how files can't be run because I am low on resources, apparently 1 gig of ram is not good enough for SP2. How do I use the repair feature for windows xp cd...it takes me to a dos prompt, how is that helpful I forgot all that stuff. I have heard you can uninstall sp2 there or can i just reinstall xp non-crap version back from there? Thanks

Um, no. Whatever system files it upgraded when sp2 was put on corrupted something, because even back in sp1 it gave me those errors, when it cleary worked fine for the past 2 years.

System restore? Another useless feature. After Sp2 got finished I went to my system restore and there were no dates to restore to, said there were none. In the past I used to have restore point for like everyday, but somehow all the restore points were gone.

I just had to reboot computer again. If it stays on for more than 2 hours it slows down and becomes dysfunctional. I get this message a lot "c:\windows\system32\rundll32.exe: Insufficient system resources exist to complete requested service" Is there a way to install sp1 again? I wonder if this would fix it. I am in no mood or time to format

Thats not true. We've said, and MS has said that you will need an update for SP2 compatibility. That update for the current products was released when SP2 was released, for some of the older apps (mostly corporate) those updates are on a schedule from SP2 release thru Sept.

We recommend you liveupdate before installing SP2, but if you won't the worst case is that the security center won't recognize our app state fully. Upon the liveupdate (and reboot) you should be good to go.

I uninstalled SP2, reinstalled SP1 with hopes it would fix any problems. Computer lasted 1 hour before it acted weird and became unresponsive this time not even giving me low resource errors. Looks like the inevitable bullcrap on reinstalling, whats worse I can't reinstall my copy cause I have used it more than twice now and key won't activate windows. Thanks micropoop.

More FUD from you. If your reinstalling on the same box, you can install a million times for as much as MS cares. Now, you may have to call and walk thru the automated system, but don't say you can't reactivate.

Wat is FUD? I did say I could not reactivate, because in the past they told me I could not so don't say its all dandy. They told me to buy a new liscence. Do you work for microsoft or something? They are not the angels you make them to be.

They might have told you that you can't activate XP on two separate machines at the same time, but they didn't tell you that you can't activate the same copy on the same machine more than once.

Did you even try activating? Did you call the 800 number if activation over the Internet didn't work? It's a two minute phone call, so try getting past your ill-conceived notions of what you think is going on and do it.

You need to buy a new license if your installing on a different machine, but your claiming you've reinstalled XP on the same machine twice now and big bad MS won't let you do it a third time. Your very confused on MS licensing (or trolling).

Actually, re-reading your post, maybe you are talking about activating it (concurrently) on a second and third machine. In that case, you do have to buy another license. But that point isn't germaine to this thread so there would be no reason for you to mention it.
