HELP: Soundblaster Live 5.1 Mic problem

I have a soundblaster live 5.1 and i have been experiencing microphone related problems recently. I use a voice over ip program called ventrilo. It seems that randomly my microphone will go really low and no one will be able to hear what i'm trying to say. The cure to fix it is to check and un-check the microphone boost box in volume control a few times until it goes back to normal. Is there a way to fix this problem? plz help D:

i used to have the same card as you and never had any problems, make sure that you have the latest version of both ventrilo and the SB live driver. Another thing to check is that the mic jack is securely plugged all the way into the port on the sound card.
