HELP SOS!!!

I just flashed my bios to 1.4 "succesfully" through MSI Live Update.
I have an A64 3400+ @2400MHz at a MSI K8N Platinum.
I updated from ver1.1 to ver 1.4 because of some probs with displaying cpu incorrect temp.
Everything seemed to work ok I booted up and after sometime I ran DIII timedemo.
My score was somewhat low so I checked gpu settings and everything was ok.
Then I realized that running dxdiag my speed was shown @ approximately 1GHz!!!
What can be the issue here?
Also my ram is ddr400 but if I set it to manual at bios it's recognized as 166MHz. I have to set it manually to 200MHz to be recognized correctly!!!
So plz can you give me some ideas of what can be going wrong?
I'm going nuts over here :Q

Hold on there. Its pretty normal for settings to be reset back to default when flashing your CMOS. Just go back into the BIOS and adjust the settings. 🙂

But I did! And everything set to what it used to be in the bios.
My cpu speed is shown correctly at bios @2412MHz but when I boot up at Windows and I ran PCMark and some other benchmarks my cpu speed is too slow! Also as I said DXDIAG reports it @ ~1GHz

Does it bench like a 1ghz? If not then dont worry about it.

Exactly. I would be worried if the BIOS was reporting differently. What are the benches like in compairison to before the flash? Close?

Guys that's what I said. It's definately affecting cpu performance...
I got 45fps in DIII instead of 93 and 32fps in Far Cry instead of 68!!
It's not a gpu issue that's for sure.
I ran cpu-z and it says that the multiplier is x5!!
I tried to force it in the bios manually(x12) but no luck! It defaults to x5.
WTF is goin on here?

turn off cool and quiet in the BIOS

good thinking-i feel like a moron now 🙂

Thankz. I was really pissed off. I tried CMOS 2 times check every setting one by one and almost reflashed back to my old bios. WTF is with Cool 'n' Quiet? Why does it create this problem?

Kind of like a notebook that controls CPU speed and drops it when there is no load.

AMD Cool?n?Quiet? Technology Overview

In the past, increased processor performance has often meant increased power consumption and increased noise levels. AMD Cool?n?Quiet? technology is an innovative solution available on AMD Athlon? 64 processor-based systems that can effectively lower the power consumption and enable a quieter-running system while delivering performance on demand, for the ultimate computing experience.

AMD and its partners have worked together to implement Cool?n?Quiet Technology as a system feature that consists of: a processor with Cool?n?Quiet Technology enabled, motherboard, supporting BIOS, software driver and CPU cooler.

The Key Benefits of AMD Cool?n?Quiet? Technology are:

Consumer:

Reduces heat output from your PC
Quiet PCs for a quiet home
Performance on demand to conserve power
Commercial:

Reduces heat output from your PC
Quiet PCs for business and educational environments
Performance on demand to conserve power

Thanks. To be honest,I never really took the time to read about how Cool 'n' quiet functions, so it never crossed my mind to disable it. I just knew that it helps reducing temps, but I'd never really paid much attention to how it does it. But now for most of the time it will definately stay off as it was before the update of the bios. -)
