So ever since 7PM last night, my aim has been acting up. It keeps signing me on and off...and it's A PAIN. What's going on?

Someone told me my IP/Server might be messed up.

My brother told me someone might be hacking me. (but why?)

WHAT TO DO? I can't chat for over 5 minutes on AIM w/o it disconnecting me!! Someone help. 🙁

Try using 2 hands to hold the gun.

amish 😉

And make sure you shake off....oops, wrong gender. 😉

Sounds like your Internet connection is screwy. Maybe try reinstalling AIM?

are you going thru a firewall or router? try bypassing them/disabling
who's your ISP?

How do i find all that out? My brother does the whole internet thing. I really have no clue what's going on. I just want my aim fixed. It's not just aim either...I keep getting kicked off mIRC too.

🙁 I'm about ready to rip out my hair. AHHHH!!!

ok... lesse... internet basics.

How are you connected? Dialup or thru a broadband?

Does the Cat-5 wire go from the back of your PC into another box, which goes into the internet?

uhh..broadband..not dialup.

NO CLUE what your second question means.

what about what my brother said about being hacked? do you think it could be true..or is he just playing with me..tyring to make me paranoid?

go to My aim, edit options, edit prefs, sign on/off, click on connection button... click on autoconfigure. It should detect and change a working port automatically.

Does your IP begin with 192.168... or does it begin with a public space IP... 24.x.x or something?

First one...w/ the numbers...

ok.. chances are you're on a network then.

Do you know if you're using a router like Linksys?

Ask your brother to upgrade the firmware on his router. I've seen this problem with another member's AIM too. He is constantly disconnecting. Also, do you have Zone Alarm installed or some kind of software firewall.

You can also manually reconfigure your AIM to try another port.

I'll ask him about the router tonight. I just dled firewall earlier today...Sygate, I got.

I tried the manually reconfiguring of AIM..and it's still not working. Sigh.. 🙁

download a fresh version of aim and go thru add/remove programs ..uninstall...do the shutdown(not just reboot) ..upon bringing system back up ...try the fresh dled version...let us know...nice cute pics..your brother sucks ..just like I do when my sis asks for pc support 😛😀

If you are using a router try taking the big phone line looking wire from the wall or modem and putting it directly into your computer. And see if AIM messes up
