ALright, here is the problem. I have searched many many places and many suggestions here have helped, but I am stuck once more.

I have a Cayman 3220-H router, and a dynamic DSL connection.

I have a question regarding how the FTP setup should be. I have the DHCP settings on obviously, and this is how its setup:

Local Address: 192.168.0.1
Net Mask: 255.255.255.0

start address: 192.168.01
end address: 192.168.0.254

now, I have realized that if I wish to set up an ftp, I have to forward the ports 21, this is how i did it:
Protocol: TCP : Ex Port Start 20 : Ex Port End 21 : Internal IP address (this is what confuses me) I have set the ip # to the ip that my comp is always under when I turn it on, and that is 192.168.0.2 : Int Port 20

so what exactly does this do? If this forwards the ports allowing others to have access to my ftp, what ip # should i give them in order to log in? When i go to winconfig I only see all these #'s 192.xx.xxx.xxx, etc etc, since I have it on DHCP.

so for example, when I go to Serve-U, what ip do i set it too, this is what is confusing the crap out of me. someone, please, give me a leed, I am retarded when it comes down to networking.

Ok here is how mine is setup.

I have the same router so here we go

The cayme is setup as 192.168.1.254

And computer 1 is 192.168.1.1
And computer 2 is 192.168.1.2

Computer 2 is where my ftp is....
My ftp is setup under port 21

I went into the caymen router and setup pinholes as this

FTPdown, 21, 21, 192.168.1.2, 21

FTPup, 20, 20, 192.168.1.2, 20

think thats how it is from memory
2 different pinholes

I logged in with it, and it works, but thats because im on the comp. I dont understand which ip i should be using

go into the router and goto moniter i thing and there should be an option called interfaces.

When you hit that some info should pop up

and the inet xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

that inet is your actuall ip address to the outside world

woops sorry about spelling

the interface option should be the one in the middle

that inet address is actually what you would give someone to login

All ftp software connect the same if serv-u doesn't work g6 won't work.

I like G6 a lot better just because it has a lot of various options and good logging..

What are you getting now an error meg. or what?????
