Help setting up CS:S dedicated server

Hello,

I have an old computer that i would like to set up as a CS:S dedicated server. I have the client downloaded and working, i just need some help with network settings. I have a wireless network using a wrt54g. If anyone can give me some pointers, or answer some questions that i may have, it would be greatly appreciated.

I will update the thread with questions as they come.

Thanks

Globe

dedicated server means...put it somewhere where you can plug it in to the network. You wont be physically using it so hide it somewhere and plug it in. Wireless is not meant for servers when a cable provides better, simpler, and faster preformance.

How many people do you plan on having playing on your server?

Yeah really, when you say old computer how old are you talking? I have a CS:S dedicated at home running on a 3000+ x64 w/ 1gig of RAM and it chugs sometimes when the server gets full.

i too run a cs:s server, but its hosted. no way i could support a stable 100tick 12-slot server at home. not only because of the computer specs needed, but your upload capabilities.

Thanks for the help so far guys, i have decided i will keep the computer upstairs, hardwired into the router. Also, the specs are shaping up to be as follows:

AMD Athlon XP 2400+
1gb PC2700 RAM
64mb Gf4 mx440
30gb HDD

Sound alright for a 66 tick, 18 man server?

Thanks
