Working on an Abit AX8 motherboard with AMD 64 3000 Winchester. Have a few configuration questions.

1.It appears that CPU FanEQ Control can also use the CPU, SYS, or PWM as the reference temperature. Are the SYS and PWM sensors built into the motherboard?

2.Will USB 2.0 support occur automatically after installing WXP SP1? Do I need to upgrade to WXP SP2 to obtain USB 2.0? Do I need to install any other driver for USB 2.0? The Abit manual said that the user must obtain USB 2.0 support from the service pack if using Windows XP.

3.I noticed that the BIOS at the ASUS website is listed is AX8 BIOS 10 Version 10 with a date of 2-25-2005. Is this the BIOS that comes with the AX8? The MB is AX8 V1.0. Not sure why these is no new release in almost two months!

4.The system comes with an AMD 64 3000 Winchester. I want to set the FSB speed to 250MHz with a CPU multiplier factor of 9X or 2250MHz processor speed. HOW DO I SET THE MEMORY DIVIDER to achieve a 5:6 ratio for a RAM speed of 208MHz (250MHz x 5 / 6)? I believe this is equilalent to LDT bus of 250MHz x 4.

5.There are two SATA processors on this motherboard to support up to four SATA hard drives. How would I go about in disabling the RAID feature in all four SATA ports? Does the VIA8237 chipset control the SATA1 and SATA2 ports?

TIA!

I dont have the ax8 (got av8, very similar) anyways:
1) yes
2) sp1 will do the trick
3) there is no new bios for the ax8 atm, I think the abit engineers are abit AWOL.... I'm waiting on some fixes for the av8 and they havent come
4) under advanced chipset features / dram configuration you can set the dram speed.... the LDT is different and is set at the "LDT and pci bus control" ... also fsb 250 will give dram speed of 200, not 208 with divider
5) on the av8 its under 'intergrated peripherals' / "onchip ide device" -- SATA RAID =disable

Thanks. About item #6 (disable SATA RAID). Under INTEGRATED PERIPHERALS\ONCHIP IDE DEVICE, I see

1.IDE BUS MASTER
2.IDE Prefetch Mode
3.OnChip IDE-1 Controller
4.OnChip IDE-2 Controller

Are the IDE-1 and IDE-2 controllers SATA or PATA?

I don't see the SATA RAID option.

Could this be located under INTERGRATE PERIPHERALS\ONBOARD PCI DEVICE\ONBOARD RAID ROM?

TIA

on the av8 the raid option is where I said it was ..... on yours it may be where you say it is..... The item is called "SATA RAID ROM".... find something like that and disable it if you dont want raid
