Help setting up a subdomain

What I'm looking to do is setup a game server/ftp server at SUBDOMAIN.myip.com.
I currently have a domain and webspace through dixiesys.com
I'm looking to setup a server sometimes/always if i have to through a spare machine here in my apartment.
1. Is this possible(easily)?
2.Would i be better off just getting a dynamic dns service(dynip.com) and using a utility to point my address out?

I asked over at the dixiesys forums and no one answered.(The great 3.95 webhosting deal in hot deals forum).
I have access to 2k server, advanced server through my school if necessary, otherwise would like to stick with win2k pro.

Can anyone help a guy out?

2k Pro isnt capable of hosting a domain.

You don't need a domain to host FTP or Game servers.

I would go with Dynamic DNS. It doesnt sound like you have a license for 2k Server anyhow.

LeprechaunKing,

This is definitely doable. Here's what you need to consider.

In order for you to be able to set up a subdomain (SUBDOMAIN.yourdomain.com), you need to ask dixiesys.com to modify the DNS information for your domain and create a new record for your subdomain and point it to the IP of your choice. dixiesys.com may do the change for you at no cost. They may want to charge you for it. They may refuse to do it. I really don't know what their policies are when it comes to DNS chages. My hosting service is very flexible so I've done this in the past.

If they agree to make the DNS chage, all you need to do is to set up the services you want on your 2k box.
