Hello Everyone,

This is my first time posting any questions on this forum. I hope i will get some good advise here.

I have one HP server installed with windows server 2008 standard edition, one computer terminal installed with very basic Windows XP, a Wifi router and a Laptop installed with windows 7 home premium. I want to start building a network where if client needs to connect to my network he has to connect to the XP terminal for authentication and once the authentication is completed he will be given access to my server.

I know i can control the authentication process through AD in Windows server 2008 on domain level but i want to make some use of my XP terminal. One other usage of that terminal is to use it as a firewall. Client will first connect to this terminal, if firewall allows connection to server then begin authentication process through AD (active directory). I am bit confused about selecting a firewall software for my terminal and also the rules of firewall which will filter/authenticate the traffic to server and. Further authentication will take place at server.

I also have to setup my wifi router port forwarding to RDP 3899 so that outside connection can establish with my server which is behind the router.

Please i need some advise on how to start the setup of this network with the above given resources. Thank You.
