Ive got a PC with this motherboard and I think the PSU is bad.

What kind of power supply do I need to buy to replace it? The old power supply is MIA.

BTW the reason I think the PS is bad:

When I turn the PC on, 99% of the time it seems to power up, fans spin for about 2-4 seconds, and then shuts off.

The other 1% of the time it turns on and stays on, but seems like only the fans spin nothing else seems like its powering up, and the screen stays black.

If I am headed in the wrong direction, what else should I be checking?

Intel 2.0Ghz CPU, 1GB DDR, SATA HD, DVD/CDRW, 3.5 floppy, USB IoMega Tape Drive

Its pretty barebones as its for a company workstation. LAN and Video on board.

A decent 300 or 400W will be fine. Fortron/FSP/Sparkle makes a good budget unit.

Wattage i know, but there are so many "types" of PSU available. I want to make sure I get one with the right connectors, so it works with my motherboard.

NAy PSU in the wattage range from teh above mentioned manufactures will have the connectors your motherboard needs. The board doen't have or need any unique connections.
