Hey all,

I have a friend who has a Sony Vaio PCV-RS530G and the power supply is kaput. The problem, is that it is not a standard size PSU. It is a little bit taller and wider than a standard PSU and not quite as deep.

I've looked all over the place and have had no luck as of yet.

Can anyone help out on this one?

Thanks in Advance

You could try ebay, etc.

I would try modding the existing casing and put a normal atx power supply guts in the sony. Do you think something like this is possible?

Sometimes it's just a gimpy fuse (that blew just because...). Try checking the fuse with a DMM and replace it if its blown (inside, soldered to the PCB). Go to a non Radio Schlock electronics store to get the fuse. Even if you have to buy a pack of five, you will get name-brand fuse instead of the mystery stuff in the RS packets. Get the same volt, amp rating if at all possible - at least nothing higher than what's in there.
The store should also have little metal S shaped things that will allow you to piggyback the new fuse onto the old without soldering.
. If you would give us the Mfr and model no. of the stock unit, we would have better luck finding a replacement.
