HELP! SB Live 5.1 Platnium PROBLEM.

I have a problem with my SB LIVE Platnium 5.1. Whenever I install the drivers for this, my computer freezes. After I try to restart my computer, everthing is fine until my computer loads the sound properties and it freezes again. I take out the card and everything is fine. If you know anything about this problem, please help me.

Have you tried placing the sound card in a different slot?

When you first installed the card, did you go into the BIOS and have it reset all configuration data (ESCD)? Sometimes this helps.

Already tried different slots and I even tried a regular sb live x-gamer.

You try disabling the emulation? Heard that uses an IRQ... so you might be getting some IRQ conflicts because of the virtual irq assigning that win2k does.

could be you don't have the necessary 2 free irqs to properly install the card or the slot you're using is shared with another piece of hardware causing a conflict. try moving the card to a different slot & see if it works otherwise look to see if you have the necessary free irqs & if necessary, try freeing up 1 or 2 in bios by disabling the com port(s).
when you get the card installed, disable sb emulation in device manager to recover an irq, unless of course, you play dos games!

also, disable onboard serial & parallel ports IN BIOS for troubleshooting purposes. These will give ya 3 IRQ's to work with.
