yakko: likewise, just because someone supports retiring a number does not mean they dont give a sh!t about anything else....its funny how your logic backfires on you.

What effort? This is the least we can do, click on a link and write our name and email on a page. Big whoop, is it something to whine about? Maybe in your eyes. I just don't get what justifies the fact that you're telling us how to contribute to society

Yakko: pfft, give me a break, anyone can make charitable contributions. I gave my country 6 years of faithful service defending it during two wars. I now work at a Mental Health/Mental Retardation hospital and alhtough I am just an IT person, I spend alot of my off time helping the patients in any way I can. I contribute real effort, person to person. Death is something to be memorialized. Every person I have known in my life has been memorialized in one way or another and I have contributed to it. It is not a waste of time, it is a way of saying thanks for what that person has given us while they were alive. The fact is that you are just too immature or too shallow to realize this.

P.S. I too give money to charity, forgot to add this. But who cares, it is only money, it doesnt amount to anything in the grand scheme of things.

yakko and cxim, stop being little pricks. If you don't care about Dale, then go post somewhere else. This is a thread about people who loved the guy or his sport. No need for you to come in here and make matters worse by getting people upset.

You want to start something?? GO START ANOTHER THREAD!!!

This is just pure useless drivel that you guys are posting. A man just died here. People admired this guy (me being one of them). It is upsetting that the man has died, but it is even more upsetting that people come in here and say they don't care or "who cares about a race car driver?" You know what, screw that. Have a heart!!!

If you don't like it, get the hell out of here and stop starting sh!t!.

I do not understand why people on this forum have to immediately degrade something they don't agree with. It's like when anyone posts an honest question about a Playstation 2, and you get 15 people that respond to the thread with "PS2's suck," yet contribute nothing more to the thread. If you don't feel this is something you want to support, then don't bother responding to it!!

yakko said "I said you should put this kind of effort into something worthwhile." Yet, you have been spending the past HOUR in this thread arguing about something you don't even consider worthwhile. Meanwhile, the whole process of signing that petition took me all of 2 minutes, and I was done. You claim that this is a "stupid waste of time" yet it's not a waste of your time for you argue why this is a waste of time? What??? Step down off your high horse, if this is what we want to do, let the people who support it discuss it, your comments contribute nothing to this post.

i'm signing! Retire the number of the best there was... same as when someone retires in other sports, their number gets retired IF they were the best.

Dale was the best.

Yakko, signing the petition takes almost no time, and I hardly expect that it is taking time away from more important matters. The only thing it is taking time away from in my case is watching "Who's Line Is It Anyway". And a question for you, aren't there better things to do than posting in a thread? :) I'll agree that there are more important matters in the grand scheme of things, but I really doubt that signing a petition will take any time away from those endeavors.

No offense but if they do retire it, I don't think that even Dale, Jr. should be able to use it. Just my feeling on the matter, and I will not argue about it.

About the petition. We all know that NASCAR probably won't give a damn about it. If you really feel strongly about the matter, send NASCAR an e-mail or call them up.

That said, I just signed it :Q.

I signed it, too.

As for you a$$*oles out there w/o nothing but bad things to say. PLEASE refrain and go find something else to complain about. People need to work through the grieving process (which makes this useful), so why begrudge them that? WHY?

To have the number retired, RCR (Childress) must be involved as it is actually under contract w/ him and not Earnhardt. Jr. will not likely drive the car as he is not even on that team, and is now probably part owner of DEI w/ his own responsibilties to many, many people.

God bless Dale's family, friends, and fans.

Yes i agree with cxim,

Dale was just another guy to hit the wall. Why are we celebrating a guy because he knows how to drive fast. There are plenty of people who die everyday from driving, why dont you help those people instead. Flame out.
