My computer recently became so corrupted with viruses and spyware, I decided it was time to reinstall windows and start from scratch. I reboot my computer with the XP installation CD in the drive, and then I follow a long list of steps. After copying some files, the installation says it needs to restart my computer. It says that after it restarts it will continue where it left off. However, when I restart, the installation begins all over again, time after time. What can I do?!?!

Are you sure it is entering the setup that you left off on??? is it booting from the CD all over again??? does it give you diferent options when it starts ie boot options???

When I restart, it goes back to the original setup screen. Yes, it is booting from the CD all over again. I haven't seen where it gives me different boot options.

OK, here is what the problem is....once those files copy over to the computer from the CD, the setup is then run directly off the computer itself and not the CD any longer. Next time you go through the process, after the computer prompts you that it's restarting, eject the CD and let the machine boot up. I think this should solve your problem.
