Help recovering formatted data

long story short mom restored windows xp back onto her laptop after formatting the drive. I am using R-studio that i own and have not had very good luck, can't seem to find the documents and settings folders from before the format/reinstall. the user name folders dont exist that i am looking for, is there an alternate method or software any can suggest.

Thanks.

no i dont and its like 100 pics only i dont really care, its like less than 1 year of photos and he has copies of alot of them.

I am not sure what you can really do after a format. I do know there are a few programs that can find some of the data but ussually not all of it. But if they are REALLY important you can always send the drive off to a data recovery center for under $1000 or so.

Try GetBackData ..

If it can see the files in the demo version, the full version will recover it...

that's funny, R-Studio should work. If not, go to http://www.Komando.com and search on data or file recovery. She has some info on some of the recovery software and some is specifically for recovering image files.

I've been in the same situation as you and GetDataBack got quite a lot of my stuff back, but some of it was corrupted, so the demo version might be a bit misleading in telling you what you could save with the full version.
