1) buy a new psu
2) buy this

if step 1) is not possible, then forget all about getting a nice 3d video card

Find a second hand pci card with an ATi Rage3D chip. Anything beyond that and you're probably going to overload the psu.

Why waste money on a 3D video card with your specs? It's not like you're going to be able to do anything that actually requires 3D video.

plase, really need help.

btw, my psu is 100 walts. if i get a video card that needs 100 walts, does that mean it wont work with my comp because other deviecs are using the 100 walts?

this is just a example
i have 100 walts...
-15 walts for cpu
-20 walts for cd player
-5 walts for floppy
-5 for ram

does that mean i only now have 65 walts for a video card now?

Watts goddamnit! From James Watt the Scottish engineer.

In that situation it would mean you have 65 watts left, yes, but that's only if the PSU ratings are accurate. Which they aren't. Plus if your PSU is as old as your processor it will have degraded _significantly_ and may even be dangerous if pushed.

You really need to throw that thing out rather than putting more money into it. You could probably build/buy off ebay an ok duron system for the same price as a video card.

Not to mention most power supplies are rated based upon peak power output, not sustainable power output. And even if you read the fine print on the label, & do the math for yourself, many power supplies cannot even achieve the rated max wattage.

Ignoring that you need more system RAM and a new PSU, I'd say something like a TNT2 would be up your alley. Post a want to buy thread in FS/FT for a PCI version of a TNT2 card, someone is bound to have one laying around. Or, there is always eBay

Edit: or see if RichieZ still has that ATi Rage XL for sale from this old thread

I've got an old 16MB ATI Rage somethingorother laying around. You could have it for $10 plus shipping if you want.
