HELP! RAM Partially Dead?? Possible?

A friend of mine got 2 x 128MB/PC150/Kingmax. Last night it was working fine, but according to him, it would boot up or boot into Windows. He had to take out the other 32MB/PC133 module. But the system only shows up as 198MB with 2 x 128MB. Is it possible for RAM to be partially dead?

Is he running Cas2 or 3? That may make a difference.

It shouldn't matter though, cu'z it has been running the same setting for like 2 months now.
